Our Dreamers have overcome many challenges in their young lives. As the COVID-19 situation continues to evolve, we want to let you know how we are continuing to support our students and community, while also ensuring their safety as we all face this new challenge:

  • As you know, all Virginia public schools are closed for at least the next two weeks. During this time, we will not hold in-person Mentoring sessions, but our students will continue to work with their mentors via phone and FaceTime and using document sharing technology.
  • Our Mentees’ college applications have all been submitted, and they are starting to hear from colleges about their acceptances for the fall semester! We are thrilled that the tuition equity bill has passed both the Virginia House and Senate, and after the legislation is signed by the Governor, our students now will qualify for in-state tuition! This will be a life-changing development, making a college education up to three times less expensive for our students. It also makes the value of our supporters’ financial gifts even more meaningful because more and more Dreamers will now be able to afford a college education!
  • We have just completed our scholarship selection interviews and are proud to announce that this year we will be offering renewable scholarships of $2,000 to 100 students! Our Scholarship Awards Ceremony is currently still scheduled for Thursday, June 11, but we will keep you posted about any changes as the situation evolves.
  • We have regrettably decided to cancel our annual Spring concert, which this year was to be held at the State Theater in Falls Church. Instead we are planning to hold our first ever Virtual Concert – a video performance of some our students as well as musical groups that represent our Dreamers’ many cultures. Stay tuned for more information about our Virtual Concert!

Thank you for your continued invaluable support for our students. Your volunteer time and your financial contributions are making a significant and meaningful difference in the lives our remarkable Dreamers!

Nuestros Dreamers han superado muchos desafíos en sus vidas. A medida que la situación de COVID-19 continúa cambiando, queremos compartir cómo seguimos apoyando a nuestros estudiantes y la comunidad, y a la misma vez como garantizamos nuestra seguridad al enfrentar este nuevo desafío:
