From listening to deeply moving speeches from our students to sharing a delicious meal prepared by the Parent’s Committee, the Dream Project’s 9th Annual Holiday Dinner was a fantastic celebration of our community.
We were honored to be joined by over 150 students, families, community members, elected officials, and treasured partners. Together, we laughed, ate, drank, and honored our shared commitment to support our students through their education and beyond.
Nine years ago, the Dream Project began when a group of parents concerned for their children’s future organized the first Holiday Dinner. Now, thanks to our loyal supporters, this year’s annual holiday dinner has grown tremendously to be the most successful fundraiser in Dream Project history — together, we raised over $71,000 to held our students achieve their dreams.
The funds will go toward providing scholarships and mentoring to undocumented students like our student speakers Glendy and Ricardo, both of whom courageously shared their stories of perseverance and unwavering hope during the dinner. With the continued support of the Dream Project, supporters helped to ensure that Glendy can become a successful immigration attorney and that Ricardo can continue to share his musical talent with the world. It is for Glendy, Ricardo, and all our students that we come together.
The success of the event was truly a result of the dedication of the Dream Project staff and community that came together to honor and celebrate our students and community. Thanks to all who attended, and made this evening truly magical. A special thanks to our Keynote Speaker, Attorney General Mark Herring; Honorary Chair, Dr. Scott Ralls; special guest, Congressman Don Beyer; and to our Master of Ceremonies, David Culver. Thank you as well to the planning committee chair, Dr. Mark Habeeb, and to the Host Committee Chairs, David and Justine Springberg.
We were honored to have the opportunity to share this beautiful evening and we hope that all our supporters will join us for our 2019 Voices for Solidarity Concert in April.
